Respond to the question: The economics of open source software?

10/21/2011 05:54 PM by John W Noerenberg II; The economics of open source software
I'm looking for a metric to describe the value of open source software to its creators and consumers. Apparently the financial benefit to consumers of open source is an externality as far as the behavior of members of an open source community. So how do the participants in a open source community gauge the value of their contribution and the contributions of others? [Manage messages]
